What is a Notice of Intended marriage?

A couple cannot be married in Australia without this form being completed and residing with an authorised Celebrant one month clear of their wedding day.

A Notice of Intended marriage is the legal form that must be completed by the couple intending to marry. This form is usually completed by the couple then signed in front of the celebrant and witnessed by the celebrant at this time.

This form must be retained by the celebrant a minimum of 31 days prior to the wedding date. After the wedding the celebrant must send this form along with the "Certificate of Marriage" to the Registry of Births, deaths and marriages in the state the wedding took place.
