Letting Go - an Exhibition of inspiration by Sally Cant.
Media Release - written by Wendy Milsom (former Age journalis)
When following our passion requires letting go of a life as we know it, we have to draw on a special reserve of courage and spirit from within.
Letting Go is an inspirational exhibition of watercolours by Melbourne artist Sally Cant. It reflects remarkable life changes made by Sally at an age when it often feels safer to stick with the status quo. Sally picked up the paint brush just eight years ago at the age of 40, and less than two years later her work Window of Opportunity was awarded first prize by Robert Wade, one of Australia's most decorated artists. She has since won a number of art shows.
Sally's art captures the vibrancy of nature, the land and the sea in a celebration of colour, painting and life. A prolific painter she often works on a number of pieces at once, which is quite rare for a watercolourist. Her preference for painting on full sheets of paper enables her to expand her images on the sheet, using rich tones in a wide range of colour.
For Sally this exhibition also marks letting go of a corporate life in IT and communications to focus on her well-established role as a celebrant creating joyful celebrations for people at all stages of life, and as a teacher. Here is a sample of some of my paintings:-
