New Appointment - Funeral Industry Ministerial Advisory Council

Sally Cant has been appointed an inaugural member of the Funeral Industry Ministerial Advisory Council. (Victoria)
It is such an honour to be appointed to the first ever Advisory Council for the Funeral industry. I believe I have a lot to offer this council. My passion for the industry along with my communications skills and corporate background would enable me to take an active role in this council. I would bring to the position a high level of enthusiasm and knowledge.

Funeral Industry Ministerial Advisory Council The Funeral Industry Ministerial Advisory Council was established in November 2007. Funeral providers, funeral industry employees and consumer and health industry representatives sit on the Council. The Council monitors the operation of the Funeral Act and provides ongoing advice to the Minister for Consumer Affairs on issues relating to the operation of the funeral industry. The new Act gives the Minister for Consumer Affairs the power to introduce a code of practice for the funeral industry. The code of practice may introduce requirements or standards in relation to the supply of funeral goods or funeral services and the storage, handling and treatment of deceased bodies. It is intended that any code of practice would be introduced through regulations following consultation with the Funeral Industry Ministerial Advisory Council and relevant stakeholders.
