From "Gift From The Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh
When you love someone, you do not love them all the time, in exactly the same way, from moment to moment. It is an impossibility. It is even a lie to pretend to. And yet this is exactly what most of us demand. We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships. We leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb. We are afraid it will never return. We insist on permanency, on duration, on continuity; when the only continuity possible, in life as in love, is in growth, in fluidity - in freedom, in the sense that the dancers are free, barely touching as they pass, but partners in the same pattern.
The only real security is not in owning or possessing, not in demanding or expecting, not in hoping, even. Security in a relationship lies neither in looking back to what was in nostalgia, nor forward to what it might be in dread or anticipation, but living in the present relationship and accepting it as it is now. Relationships must be like islands, one must accept them for what they are here and now, within their limits - islands, surrounded and interrupted by the sea, and continually visited and abandoned by the tides.
Excerpt from The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams
"What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?"
"Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real."
"Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit.
"Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt."
"Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?"
"It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."

A tapestry of love
Just as two very different threads woven in opposite directions can form a beautiful tapestry, so can your two lives merge together to form a beautiful marriage.
To make your marriage work will take love.
Love should be the core of your marriage;
love is the reason you are here.
But it will also take trust - to know in your hearts
you want the best for each other.
It will take dedication ñ to stay open to one another;
to learn and to grow together even when this is not so easy to do.
It will take faith ñ to always be willing to go forward to tomorrow, never really knowing what tomorrow will bring.
And it will take commitment ñ to hold true to a journey you both now will share together.
Soul Mate
Somehow out of all the twists and turns
our lives could have taken
And out of all the chances we might have missed
It almost seems like we were given a ëmeant to be' moment
When I am with you
I know that I am in the presence of someone
who makes my life more complete
than I ever thought it could be
My tomorrows need to have you near
So many of my smiles depend on you
And my heart is so thankful that we are here |

Through Time and Space
Shalin Guy Anand
Through Space and Time
staring into those amazing crystal blues eyes,
You have me so mesmerized
A gaze worthy of an angels eyes,
I embark on a new journey, lady in waiting of blue eye's
My mind rockets through space and time,
through a cavern unmapped we chart a new course
in venture of passion and compassion,
with every day my heart deepens and opens,
Please come inside.
So through space and time with this lady in mind
I journey with my new soul mate, on a new quest,
on a journey of truth, love and harmony,
together we stand and together we shall fall,
the final destination is yet to be mapped.
Maybe it's not the destination,
but the company you keep,
Through space and time! |
The Arrow and the Song by
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong,
That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.

The Hands of Your Best Friend
These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever. These are the hands that will work alongside yours, as together you build your future. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other. These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind. These are the hands that will countless times wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow, and tears of joy. These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children. These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one. These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it. And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged, will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

| What is love
Love is just not looking at each other and saying 'You're wonderful'. There
are times when we are anything but wonderful.
Love is looking out in the same direction.
it is linking our stregnth to pull a common load.
It is pushing together towards the far horizons, hand in hand.
Love is knowing that when our strength falters, we can borrow the strength
of someone who cares.
Love is a strange awarement that our sorrows will be shared and made lighter
by sharing, that joys will be enriched and multiplied by the joy of another.
Love is knowing someone else cares, that we are not alone in life
Walter Rinder |
When I give you my heart
I'll give you a treasure that cannot be bought
In the little things we share
I'll give you gifts of beautiful thoughts
Whenever you're not there
We'll share an awareness in all that we see
Of the wonders of life that surround -
From the tiniest leaf to the mightiest tree
That's where real treasures are found.
We'll cherish each sunset, each dawn, every breeze
And take time to gaze at the stars
The wonder of life will ever increase
As ever we follow one star -
Then soon, we will find through sharing all this
Two dreams have forged in one stream -
Sweeping to goals, united we'll share
In lives much richer by farÖ" |
Touch The Air Softly by William Jay Smith
Now, touch the air softly, step gently, one, two
I will love you til roses are robin's egg blue
I will love you til gravel is eaten for bread
And lemons are orange, and lavender is red.
Now touch the air softly, swing gently the broom,
I will love you til windows are all of the room,
And the table is laid, and the table is bare,
And the ceiling reposes, on bottomless air.
I will love you til heaven rips the stars from his coat,
And the moon rows away in a glass-bottomed boat,
And Orion steps down, like the river below,
And the earth is ablaze, and the oceans aglow.
So touch the air softly, and swing the broom high,
We will dust the grey mountains, and sweep the blue sky.
And I will love you, as long as the furrow, the plough,
And however is ever, and ever is now. |
| Companionship
It isn't that we talk so much;
Sometimes the evening through
You do not say a word to me,
I do not talk to you.
I sit beside the reading lamp,
You like your easy chair,
And it is joy enough for me
To know that you are there.
It isn't that we go out so much;
Sometimes we like to roam
To concert or theatre,
But best of all is home.
I sew a bit, or read aloud
a book we want to share,
And it is joy enough for me
To know that you are there.
It isn't that you tell to me
The things I've come to know;
It goes too deep for words, I think,
The fact you love me so
You only have to touch my hand
To learn how much I care,
And it is joy enough for me
To know that you are there |
Loving You by Larry S. Chengges.
Your love is the best thing that has ever happened to me.
It has given my life new priorities and meaning and filled it with joy.
Thank you for giving so much of yourself and for helping me to discover so much about myself too.
Sometimes I think you know me better than I know myself.
When we are together love feels so right with you
And I miss you so much when we are apart.
I'll always be there for you and together I know we can make our dreams come true."

To you I give my heart..
by Ruth Van Gramberg
I stand beside you strong and sure
my dearest, dearest friend,
And as we make our sacred vows
My thoughts of you transcend.
I give you my heart, my hopes, my dreams
Accept these gifts of mine
They are so precious and fragile
They need your care divine.
Treat my trust with gentleness
Treat me with loving care
I can but grow with patience and love
As long as you are there."
